Colégio de Gaia
In 1933 was born the Externato Gaia College - Gaia College today - by the iniciative of D. António Meireles, Bishop of Porto at the time.
Was its first Director Fr Nédio de Sousa until early 60s .
D. Maria Margarida Magalhães and Silva had donated to the Diocese of Porto his property called "Quinta de Trancoso", situated in the place of Trancoso, in the parish of Mafamude (Vila Nova de Gaia) imposing the burden of teaching the youth of the village.
It's in the 60s and 70s who know a significant expansion and is now considered the largest college in the country in school facilities, sports and outdoor spaces.
To "show what we are, what we do and why we do it", we have a educational project unique to serve a school population (1400/1500 students) that extends from age 3 to 12th grade education.
The College of Gaia, in accordance with its educational project fosters with Parents / Guardians "persistent and ongoing dialogue, for the achievement of a joint action in order always the center of our concerns: student and their training / education . "
We say, finally, that the College of Gaia, as Catholic school that is, as ecumenical spirit, "emphasizes the intention to provide a solid education, based on values"
